Pratyay Rao is a senior at New Trier High School whose love of music has grown through playing piano, improvising, and composing since childhood. He enjoys exploring repertoire ranging from Rachmaninoff to Gershwin and Kapustin, while developing his own musical ideas through composition.

His piano journey has brought opportunities to perform at Carnegie Hall and Ravinia, and to play the third movement of Rachmaninoff’s Second Piano Concerto with the orchestra at the Music Fest, Perugia in Italy. He has earned top prizes in international music competitions and festivals.

Pratyay pursues interests in biomedical research and technology, with a particular interest in making healthcare more accessible. He has conducted research at Northwestern and Boston University and developed DirectDose, a project supporting people living with diabetes. He hopes to continue exploring how engineering and medicine can come together to help people in their everyday lives.
